Meet Annelise

Hi! I'm Annelise, and I'm the designer, dyer, and knitter behind Grey Cap Knits. Like many passionate fiber artists, I first learned to knit and crochet from my grandmother on a rainy afternoon in grade school. Knitting quickly became a fixture in my life, and while it was occasionally surpassed by music, quilting, and writing, I always found my way back to it.
In 2021, I decided to combine my passions and began designing and publishing knitting patterns. Thus, Grey Cap Knits was born! In the time since then, I've published multiple patterns on Ravelry, worked with Hobbii Yarn on design campaigns, and collaborated with my local yarn store to create patterns for LYS day. Naturally, I'm thrilled to have this exciting new opportunity to start working with hand-dyed yarns, and I can't wait for our yarn to reach your hands and to see all of the wonderful new patterns and projects that you create!
Meet Grey

I'm Grey, the head of brainstorming at Grey Cap Knits. I first discovered my love for dyeing back in High School chemistry class. For a while, I only worked on passion projects: clothes, cotton fabric for quilting, and tapestries, but in 2023 at NY Sheep and Wool, I found my love for wool! It started when an older gentleman spinning yarn caught my attention. I had never seen a drop-spindle before, and I was captivated, so I decided to give it a try. The learning curve was immense (and as with all crafts, there are always more skills to master) but in spinning, I found a real passion for sharing my yarn with friends and family. Much of my enthusiasm comes from their support and love, and the joy I feel from seeing their final projects worked up in my hand-spun.
Of course, producing hand-spun yarn is an extremely time-consuming labor of love, and while I wanted to share it with everyone, it didn't feel like an achievable goal, so when Annelise suggested combining my passion for fiber with my passion for dyeing, I jumped on board! Ahoy!
